Tutor of English and supporter for social projects.

Language: English
Age: 18 +

Work and activities: The Research Institute of Environment and Social Problems (RIESP) is a scientific and technological organization under direction of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (known as the Vietnam Union Association). RIESP brings together a highly regarded and experienced group of experimental technologists, scientists and specialists to carry out research development and training, with the aim of using new technology and science to address environmental and social problems.

Volunteers working at this project will assist young people at the institution with communication skills and also provide general support for the institution's environmental projects. The volunteers will implement the following tasks:

Objectives: SJ Vietnam wants to improve the life chances of young people who lack effective communication skills. Studying with international volunteers will assist with this, and also help these young people to understand more about other cultures and the views and experiences of youth in other countries. As environmental protection becomes a recognised global issue, many more individuals and groups are becoming interested in what they can do to improve their environmental behaviour and leave a lasting legacy for future generations. RIESP run interesting and practical environmental projects and request the assistance of volunteers who have experience and knowledge in this field, and are interested in contributing to a greener world.

Accommodation & Food: Simple and small accommodation in SJ Vietnam's LTV House. Volunteers will stay in dormitory beds. It is supposed to have from 5 to 6 volunteers sharing a bedroom and up to 18 volunteers sharing 2 bathrooms/showers. Volunteers need to take their sleeping bag, mosquito net, pillow and sheet with them. Volunteers are responsible for their food: they can cook by themselves in the kitchen of the LTV House or go and eat outside. Vegetarian catering is possible.

Leisure activities: Hanoi has many historical and cultural landmarks and is a popular destination for tourists. Visiting the Old Quarter and traditional trade villages are good choices for volunteers at weekends or in their free time. Many cultural festivals are held in Hanoi annual so this is a great chance for volunteers to explore the Capital which is 1000 years old.

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam

Remarks: Volunteers must have experience in teaching and related fields to take on this role. Volunteers will need to adapt to their new lifestyle in Vietnam quickly, both in terms of the new and different environment and working style.
